Why we're here

Why we serve Stamford

Stamford keeps real green space close to home, downtown as well as out on its edges. In the city center, Mill River Park is Stamford's central park. It grew from a plan, begun in 1997, to restore the Mill River and reclaim green space, and since 2003 the nonprofit Mill River Park Collaborative has grown and maintained it under a renewable contract with the City of Stamford. About half of the park's annual budget comes from city funds and the other half from community support. The Collaborative is also carrying out a multi-phase master plan that includes a new Discovery Center for visitors and students. Our job is to keep the backyard just as inviting when you get home.

Local roots

A little about Stamford

On the Greenwich line, Mianus River Park follows a stretch of the Mianus River through forest land, vernal pools and glacial outcroppings. The park spans two municipalities and three connected properties: the City of Stamford owns 187 acres, the Town of Greenwich 110 acres, and the State of Connecticut another 94 acres known as Treetops. The Connecticut Trail Finder counts more than 12 miles of trails, among them a 2.6-mile Nature Trail with 13 marked points of interest and a 4.5-mile Yellow Trail loop that covers most of the park. A volunteer group, the Friends of Mianus River Park, works to sustain and protect it. Stamford dog owners also know the dog park at Cummings Park, a place for pups to socialize and burn off extra energy.

Stamford FAQ

Common questions about Stamford service.

If your question isn't here, give us a call. We answer the phone.

Do your technicians take the dog waste with them?

No. We securely double- or triple-bag the waste in our scented bags and place it in your trash bin or a designated spot on your property.

Do you clean the entire yard?

Standard pricing covers the entire yard up to 1/8 acre, about 5,500 square feet. Bigger yards are welcome: each additional 1/8 acre is $6 per visit.

Is Spruce Scoop insured?

Yes. Spruce Scoop is fully insured and registered in Connecticut, for your peace of mind and protection in the unlikely event of any incident during our service.

Do you provide service in the winter?

Absolutely. We scoop year-round. In snow we remove all visible, accessible waste, and anything buried under snow or ice is picked up once conditions allow. If weather postpones a visit, we do a full cleanup of everything that built up on the next one.

Can technicians work with dogs in the yard?

We love our furry clients! Friendly dogs can stay outside. For everyone's safety, we ask that aggressive or overly excited dogs be kept indoors while we work.

Do I need to be home when you arrive?

No. Just make sure your gate is unlocked and we can get into the yard safely, and tell us about any entry instructions. We'll handle the rest.

How will I know you've been there?

We text you 10 to 30 minutes before we arrive and again when we're done, and we upload a photo of your closed gate before we leave.

How much does dog waste removal cost?

Pricing depends on the number of dogs, your yard size and how often we visit. Weekly service for a small yard with one or two dogs typically runs $23 to $28 per visit. Get your exact price in about a minute with our instant quote.

Awaiting confirmation: Spruce Scoop is confirming the $23 to $28 range above. Your instant quote shows your exact price.

How often can you come out?

We offer weekly, twice-weekly, biweekly and monthly visits, so you can pick the schedule that fits your dogs and your yard.

Is there a contract?

No. Service is month to month with no long-term contract. To cancel, just let us know at least 7 days before your next billing date.
