Why we're here

Why we serve Milford

Milford is a historic coastal city with beautiful beaches, an idyllic harbor and an enthusiastic community of dog lovers, many of whom spend their free time outdoors with their pets. The city describes walking areas along its shoreline, harbor, rivers, streams, ponds, woods and marshes, and it highlights seven trail walks: Beaver Brook Trail, Eisenhower Park Trail, the Great River Walk, Mondo Ponds Trail, Silver Sands State Park, Solomon Woods Trails and Wilcox Park Trails. The city also says Milford offers some of the region's best birding, which draws people from across the region. Eisenhower Park, one of those seven, adds plenty of green space, trails and a dog park.

Local roots

A little about Milford

Silver Sands State Park sits along more than half a mile of shoreline, with a three-quarter-mile, all-weather boardwalk, sand dunes, marshland, wildlife and a dazzling array of seashells. The state acquired the land after Hurricane Diane devastated the Connecticut coastline in 1955 and destroyed 75 homes, and remnants of the cottages' foundations can still be spotted in the marsh. When transfers of more than 300 parcels were completed in 1960, Silver Sands became the state's fourth shoreline park. Half a mile offshore, Charles Island, once a bustling seaside resort and later a religious retreat, is now a 14-acre wildlife sanctuary for rare birds, joined to the park by a sandbar that the tide covers twice a day. The state parks agency even passes along a rumor that the privateer Captain William Kidd buried treasure there in 1699. None has ever been found.

Milford FAQ

Common questions about Milford service.

If your question isn't here, give us a call. We answer the phone.

Do your technicians take the dog waste with them?

No. We securely double- or triple-bag the waste in our scented bags and place it in your trash bin or a designated spot on your property.

Do you clean the entire yard?

Standard pricing covers the entire yard up to 1/8 acre, about 5,500 square feet. Bigger yards are welcome: each additional 1/8 acre is $6 per visit.

Is Spruce Scoop insured?

Yes. Spruce Scoop is fully insured and registered in Connecticut, for your peace of mind and protection in the unlikely event of any incident during our service.

Do you provide service in the winter?

Absolutely. We scoop year-round. In snow we remove all visible, accessible waste, and anything buried under snow or ice is picked up once conditions allow. If weather postpones a visit, we do a full cleanup of everything that built up on the next one.

Can technicians work with dogs in the yard?

We love our furry clients! Friendly dogs can stay outside. For everyone's safety, we ask that aggressive or overly excited dogs be kept indoors while we work.

Do I need to be home when you arrive?

No. Just make sure your gate is unlocked and we can get into the yard safely, and tell us about any entry instructions. We'll handle the rest.

How will I know you've been there?

We text you 10 to 30 minutes before we arrive and again when we're done, and we upload a photo of your closed gate before we leave.

How much does dog waste removal cost?

Pricing depends on the number of dogs, your yard size and how often we visit. Weekly service for a small yard with one or two dogs typically runs $23 to $28 per visit. Get your exact price in about a minute with our instant quote.

Awaiting confirmation: Spruce Scoop is confirming the $23 to $28 range above. Your instant quote shows your exact price.

How often can you come out?

We offer weekly, twice-weekly, biweekly and monthly visits, so you can pick the schedule that fits your dogs and your yard.

Is there a contract?

No. Service is month to month with no long-term contract. To cancel, just let us know at least 7 days before your next billing date.
